According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, in 2006 the USA used 9.253 million barrels of gasoline each day. On the other hand, there were 811 million barrels of natural gas liquids produced in the USA in 2006, including both condensate extracted at the lease (182 million barrels) and liquids extracted in later processing (629 million barrels.) This is equal to 2.222 million barrels per day, which is around 24% of the gasoline consumption figure. This is all an exercise to indicate that the price of gasoline should not be as influenced by the crude price as Congress and the oil execs want us to believe. Yes they are the problem...big oil is only adjusting the market price for gasoline as they did in 1981, 1991, 2001, and now 2008.

This gas crisis is so out of hand, that I've resorted to drastic measures. Recently I converted my 04 Cadillac to utilize water as fuel from an easy to install kit, I obtained online from a company called Water4fuel.info
