LCV Calls Out McCain on New TV Ad Running in Michigan
Michigan is one of several key ’swing states’ in the upcoming presidential election, and John McCain knows it. The debates going on within state of Michigan encapsulate some of the most salient political, economic, and social questions being discussed across the country this campaign season. No state has seen a more precipitous decline in economic well-being than Michigan. And perhaps no state would benefit more from an energy policy that would promote changes in our infrastructure, including an emphasis on plug-in vehicles, a renewed focus on rail transit, and substantial growth in renewable energy.
In a recent television ad released by Republican candidate for President John McCain, the Senator picks up on the above issues and maintains that he supports them. But the League of Conservation Voters isn’t buying it. LCV President Gene Karpinski said in a statement:
“John McCain says change is coming but after nearly three decades in Washington failing to support alternative energy, failing to support incentives for clean technology autos, and failing to support efforts to create the jobs of a new, clean energy future* — the only thing that is changing is John McCain’s tune.
“The truth is John McCain can run a brand new TV ad touting brand new positions but he can’t hide from the failed policies of George Bush that he has supported 90% of the time. And he can’t hide a voting record that has failed Michigan.”
