T. Boone Pickens himself says he doesn't really care about the environment, merely national security and foreign oil. But what he really cares about is money, which is something that should be obvious in a billionaire.

This is a man who has done so much to hurt the Democrats, it's amazing to watch them cozying up to a plan that solves nothing in the long term.

But you're right. Natural gas isn't clean, it is just clean-er. The problem, as I see it, with the Pickens plan is that it has the single goal of energy independence, Mr. Pickens will say as much himself. An energy plan should be about more than energy independence, because if it isn't, we'll all be powering our cars with liquid coal in no time. And while that might move us toward energy independence it wouldn't do squat for reducing our carbon emissions.
