In the post (GRD) great republican depression era, all errors against the environment will face a severe reversal, and the U.S.A. will go Solar thermal, Electric - just as Spain and Portugal have! Carbon Emission taxes will pay for Solar - PERPETUAL energy sources. No longer called by the unfamiliar title "renewable" a misnomer at best, Solar, wind and wave power are PERPETUAL by definition. Yes Yankee Doodle! we have reached the Holy grail of physics, a perpetual POWER SOURCE, and we are not even considering the now proven to be expensive beyond reach science myth of fusion or even cold fusion! We don't need to! We have Solar! a PERPETUAL power source! No bull shit, no oil baron attached, no small OPEC countries to feed and defend, no Sunnis wars to fight for oil, just plain Solar, thermal power - once the plant is built in the deserts of the Southwestern U.S.A.(at home) it doesn't need to be sent money every few months, it never - NEVER - runs dry! And for the cost of that goddamn Iraq war, we are guaranteed power! Remember, we have never seen a single drop of Iraqi oil in the U.S.A. What the hell did we die for? Why did we spend the money?

All true. The other hallmark of this administration has been to sign bills and then issue 'signing statements' which essentially said signature. For 7 years Bush found this method much easier than vetoing bills that came to his desk he disagreed with.

As hard as it will be for him to do, Obama needs to temper the growing power of the President and roll back on the direction of an executive-controlled government.

We have sadly witnessed eight years of both neglect and disconnect, as few new protective laws have been enacted and the ones on the books often ignored. It has been a hallmark of this administration to enact policies that directly contradict existing laws. Hopefully we will soon return to a method of government that is not only lawful, but acts in a manner that respects the planet.
