I really think that politicians, and the administration in particular, will have to circle back to the jobs. With unemployment at very high levels, we're still seeing vast growth in the "green" industry, i.e. - environmental jobs and positions in sub-sectors like solar energy, wind power, sustainability, geothermal, etc. These are also very popular jobs and, due to the "new" nature of some companies in the field, entry-level jobs abound. Many of these are field work, making a great transition for those accustomed to working outdoors. The transition from home improvement to energy efficiency consultant, for example, is quite a natural one, and that's just one example of where workers/employees in "traditional" industries could potentially flourish in the "green" field.
