Here’s the video of Occupy Wall Streeters tussling with block blocers. They guy in the orange motorcycle helmet talked about his experience on Reddit.

Also coming up in the next week:
- November 5: Bank transfer day. Vote with your cash! Close your account at one of the too-big-to-fail banks and move your money to a credit union or small, local bank. (Background here)
- November 6: Keystone pipeline protest . Climate activists Bill McKibben and 350.org harness the Occupy Wall Street energy to circle the White House, sending the message to President Obama that he shouldn’t approve a new pipeline to carry polluting tar sands oil through America’s heartland. (Background here, here, and here)
- November 12, the City of London holds an annual Lord Mayor’s Show, basically a celebration of the banking industry. There will be protests at that… as George Monbiot says, “Expect fireworks – and not just those laid on by the Lord Mayor.”

Hi,
You might be interested to know that the Oakland General Assembly passed a resolution during the week leading up to the general strike encouraging people to occupy other spaces and promising to aid and defend those occupations. So the Anarchists and others who went to re-open the building and provide free services to the cities homeless populations were acting under the explicit auspices of the Oakland General Assembly. Next time do a little research before you denounce people.
As for the window breaking earlier in the day, that’s a separate issue. You’re right that it was a stupid thing to do and an inappropriate tactic. You might also be interested to know that many anarchists (myself included) have publicly spoken out against it and said that using property destruction in that setting was inappropriate.
You might also consider that there’s no political test or party registration required to smash things. Wearing black clothes does not make you an Anarchist. Wearing black clothes and smashing things does not make you an Anarchist either – no matter how much the corporate media would like people to think it does. Advocating a horizontally organized political and economic system in which corporations and governments are replaced with voluntary and directly democratic institutions makes you an anarchist. And Anarchists range from devout pacifists like Leo Tolstoy to folks like Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn who don’t advocate violence but recognize that it’s sometimes a necessary evil in order to resist and oppose oppressive and violent State institutions.
Thank you for reading. Please try to be a bit less sensationalistic next time.
