Action! Brett Kavanaugh would be Scott Pruitt on the Supreme Court – tell your Senator to vote NO!

A liveable climate. Not to mention reproductive rights, voting rights, immigration, LGBT equality, workers’ rights — it’s all on the line. Any and every civil liberty we hope to have in this country could be dismantled or blocked by Brett Kavanaugh — unless the Senate mounts a defense and stops Trump’s Supreme Court takeover. One commentator has referred to Kavanaugh as the “Scott Pruitt of the federal judiciary… because of a long line of cases where he has ruled against environmental, health, and safety regulations and in favor of the businesses regulated by them.”

A sharp right turn by the Supreme Court would endanger the climate. The landmark 2007 Supreme Court decision (Massachusetts v. EPA) that gave EPA authority under the Clean Air Act to deal with climate change was a 5-4 decision with Justice Kennedy as the swing vote.

We’re climate hawks and we VOTE. We’re also Americans who care about things like reproductive rights, a welcoming immigration policy, workers’ rights, and an end to gun violence. Brett Kavanaugh could irrevocably change everyday life in America by changing these policies — and he’s already issued rulings showing how he’d vote from the highest court in the land.

This is not a test. With his hand-picked Supreme Court justice, Trump could do lasting damage to our nation for generations to come. That’s why we’re telling all Senators: “Hold firm. Do NOT confirm Brett Kavanaugh!”
