Drain the Swamp: Candidates are just saying NO to dirty oil money with the “No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge”

  • Published on August 8th, 2018

As of today, over 920 candidates have signed the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge! Your role in this has been very essential — your calls, your petitions, your questions at candidate forums, and your donations to fuel the organizing.

Take action now — tell your local politicians to take the pledge!

This past weekend at Netroots Nation, we landed high profile new signers, including Paulette Jordan, running for governor of Idaho, and David Garcia, in a competitive primary for governor of Arizona. We can almost taste the 1000 mark that our coalition partners set out earlier this year as an ambitious goal for a first-time pledge.

It’s not just candidates taking the pledge. Your pressure helped us secure the backing of the Democratic National Committee, which voted to stop taking money from fossil fuel corporate PACs. We’re making sure in the weeks ahead the DNC doesn’t backslide on that commitment.

We can’t let up now. Check the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge website to determine if candidates in your area have taken the pledge. Then use the toolto initiate tweets, facebook posts, or phone calls to candidates — thanking those who have taken the pledge and asking those who haven’t to do so.

Together, we can make fossil fuel money poison to candidates.
