McCain’s 13-Car Footprint

Posted in:

If the McCains need to travel anywhere, they have options. They can drive a Honda, a Volkswagon, a Cadillac…or any other one of the 13 vehicles registered to John and Cindy.

Talk about a carbon footprint! Maybe all this talk directed at Palin should be taking a closer look at McCain’s personal habits. Did I also mention that he owns at least seven houses? And that these cars don’t include the Lexus registered under a beer distribution company?

This comes from a Newsweek article released yesterday, which also points out that McCain has been less than truthful about the origins of his gas-guzzling possessions. Instead of a being a good ol’ patriot buying only American-made cars, as he has claimed, McCain instead should label himself an opportunist in the cheaper foreign market. Two of his cars come from overseas.

And he can’t very well hold this one over Obama. The Illinois senator drives only one car - a Ford Escape Hybrid. Which is both environmental and American.

Criticism points a finger at Obama, however - despite his car, the McCain camp says that Obama is focusing on trivial things. But it seems to me that McCain’s owning 13 cars falls directly opposite of any environmental initiatives he’s proposing. If he isn’t clean in his own life, how can we expect him to be any more sustainable in running the country?
