ID… and motive?
The AP reported the gunman as AP Jared Loughner. Via Internet postings Loughner appears to be a classic right-winger, attacking the government for “mind control”, “brainwashing”, and for abandoning the gold standard. His list of favorite books include Brave New World, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf, and Plato’s Republic. More from Talking Points Memo and from the Tucson Weekly. Also, this appears to be a twitter feed from a friend of Loughner’s.)
“… We don’t know what the shooter’s motive was, but people, especially elected officials, need to pay attention to what they say,” Rep. Daniel Patterson (D-AZ) told the Tuscon Weekly. ” ”Second amendment remedies,’ Sharon Angle—that is reckless and irresponsible to even suggest that it would be OK to use violence about any concern with any elected official.”
Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash., described Rep. Gabrielle Giffords as a symbol of “hope, innovation and confidence.”
Giffords had a 100% environmental rating by the League of Conservation Voters, which called her “one of the great champions of clean energy and of protecting our planet for future generations” in their re-election endorsement. She is a big proponent of solar energy, and has a proud roll of environmental accomplishments on her website.
Judge Roll had recieved death threats after talk-radio hosts whipped up their audience against him after he ruled in a 2009 civil rights lawsuit.
Here’s Giffords talking about solar energy at a Congressional hearing last year:
Pages: 1 2

You contradict yourself so thoroughly, how can you even call this an opinion?
You call him a “classic right-winger”, yet you list Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto among his favorite books. (I saw that page, too, and I know what’s in his list.)
Further, as you would know if you were a reasonable person with no inclination to distort things, the slogan “If ballots don’t work, bullets will” refers to the duty of Americans to revolt against an oppressive government, if necessary. It was NEVER intended to apply to individuals or individual politicians.
Such DUTY, I will remind you, is explicitly spelled out in our Declaration of Independence, which was in turn later adopted by Congress
as Federal law. Therefore, you are vilifying someone for referring to a clear duty of citizenship that is very clearly and specifically spelled out by our own government.
It is disingenuous to imply that such a reference to a patriotic duty is somehow connected to the shooting of a politician by a crazy person. Stop laying the blame where it doesn’t belong. You just make yourself look stupid.
what is the difference between a ‘government, politicians’ and individuals? of who makes up the government and what are politicians, rubber dolls?
‘disingenuous to imply that such a reference to a patriotic duty is connected to the shooting of a politician by a crazy person’???
your righteous indignation does nothing to cover your supreme ignorance…

The Crazed Internet Rantings of Jared Loughner
Posted by Dan Gibson on Sat, Jan 8, 2011 at 4:09 PM
… Another video, favorited by Loughner, uses “Let The Bodies Hit The Floor” by Drowning Pool as a soundtrack to the burning of an American flag in the desert by a hooded, masked man wearing what appears to be pants made of black garbage bags.
His MySpace page featured a photo of a Glock pistol placed on an American History textbook and listed his favorite books as “Animal Farm, Brave New World, The Wizard Of OZ, Aesop Fables, The Odyssey, Alice Adventures Into Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, Peter Pan, To Kill A Mockingbird, We The Living, Phantom Toll Booth, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Pulp,Through The Looking Glass, The Communist Manifesto, Siddhartha, The Old Man And The Sea, Gulliver’s Travels, Mein Kampf, The Republic, and Meno”, a mess of books with wildly different viewpoints …
Your report above smells of the progressive left. While you have some facts straight (like some of the victims) and Giffords work, the rest is all liberal agenda, speculation and theories.
A friend of Loughner’s was quoted by reporters today, saying Jared was “left wing, quite liberal.” Not sure how someone who rejects the Bible and Constitution, likes videos showing burning of the American flag, and likes communist books, is considered “right wing”.
This incident was not performed by some political terrorist. Not even connected to the Tea Party movement nor Palin.
If you had your facts straight, you would know this was performed by a mentally ill young man.
A mentally ill young man easily influenced by hateful and incendiary rhetoric perhaps? Hateful and incendiary rhetoric such as the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin are fond of using?
You MENSA candidates are surely kidding, right? You are honestly arguing that Mein Kampf proves someone is a LEFTIST?!? Next you’ll be arguing that his professed admiration for Mama “Bullseye” Grifter somehow “proves” how librul he is, to admire a WOMAN.
The guy was straight out of Elohim City, a brother of McVeigh. But that description fits a whole lot of the baggers, doesn’t it?
