Solar Power is Truly a Bipartisan Solution
If you’re at all like me, then you might find listening to the rhetoric being spat back and forth between republicans and democrats to be a bit nauseating. According to our elected officials, whatever ails our country (un-employment, healthcare, social security, climate change, lack of education etc.) is always the “other guys” fault , or in this case “the other party’s fault”. In someways it’s like watching a couple of squabbling school children argue over who didn’t put their toys away when they were done playing with them. No wonder our system is completely inept when it comes to bringing about any real meaningful change. Simply put, there is a prevailing mindset in Washington DC that says “I’m right, and they’re wrong”. Which if you ask me doesn’t allow much room for compromise. But do we always have to compromise? Well, not when the idea is a win-win for everyone involved.
Solar power is that win-win idea, even if the backwards thinking state of Florida thinks it’s a good idea to gut their incentive programs for such a thing (isn’t it called the sunshine state?). Seriously though, solar power is practically a no brainer. Even if you don’t believe in global warming, or climate change, what could possibly be the downside to investing in solar power? After all, the planet has been powered by the sun for the last, oh I don’t know, several million years and it seems to be working just fine (outside of the human element that is).
I’m sure some of you might be thinking, “isn’t it expensive to have a solar system installed on my home?”. Well, it can be, but it doesn’t have to be. You see, if you don’t live in the state of Florida, odds are your State offers incentive programs that help to lower the cost of such an investment, but wait, there’s more good news yet. If you happen to live in California, New York, Hawaii, Arizona or Colorado (sorry Florida, looks like you’re missing out on this one too) and own a home, you could win a free solar power system for your home valued at more $16,000 courtesy of SunPower.
Think about that for a second. A free solar power system that will provide your home with free, clean, 100% renewable energy for life. I’d like to think that both republicans and democrats would endorse a deal as sweet as this one. Sound to good to be true? I assure you it isn’t. The solar panels that could potentially power your home will be the same ones that SunPower used to power the first ever, all electric vehicle that successfully circumnavigated the globe. Pretty sweet, huh?
All you have to do in order to win one of these systems for your home is head over to the SunPower’s website, open up the sweepstakes page, fill out the information and submit your entry form. That’s it. Honestly, I just don’t understand how you could go wrong on this one (I suppose not entering at all would count).
