Hurricane Harvey: Al Gore reminds us how climate change leads to more flooding

As Texas prepares to get a second soaking from Hurricane Harvey, and more than 3000 people have been rescued from the floodwaters, it’s important to recall: Climate change activists have been warning this was going to happen, and climate deniers have been saying “Even if climate change IS real, we’ll just adapt”.

Tell that to the folks whose homes are underwater, to the government of Texas which will have to clean up the mess, and the insurance companies that may well be pushed into bankruptcy by yet another multi-billion dollar disaster.

Al Gore points out, the deniers sneered at him when he pointed out that Manhattan could be flooded by climate change in his original film, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Now, in the “Inconvenient Sequel,” he points out that just a few years after he made that prediction, Manhattan WAS swamped by Superstorm Sandy. And now Texas is being hit by its second 500-year-flood in two years…
