U.S. to Resume Filling Strategic Petroleum Reserve

The U.S. Department of Energy today announced that it plans to take advantage of the recent decline in crude oil prices, and has issued a solicitation to purchase approximately 12 million barrels of crude oil for the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to replenish supplies sold following hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.

  1. You shaped your CO2 molecules like H2O. CO2 is a non-polar molecule, therefore C and the 2 Os are in a straight line.

  2. Artistic license–they needed feet :)

  3. Well, LochDhu, just because it is non-polar does not make it a linear molecule. H-F is very polar, and can be thought of as linear. It really has more to do with how they are bonded than whether they are polar.
